American actor Kevin Spacey has revealed that he is gay after being accused by a younger actor, Anthony Rapp of attempting to seduce him as a 14 year old.
In a statement, the House Of Cards actor claimed not to remember if it happened but apologized still, saying ‘I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years’.
He also goes on to reveal his se*uality. ‘This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man..’
For the most part of his career, Kevin Spacey has been guarded about his private life as rumours made the round about his se*uality. He had denied on several occasions that he was gay. But if the recent seasons of the popular Netflix series House Of Cards where he plays an unscrupulous politician, he has acted out romantic scenes with different men- kissing them onscreen.
The accusation of s*xual misconduct was made in BuzzFeed report where Anthony Rapp revealed that in 1986, Spacey had invited him to a party in his home and attempted to initiate s*x with him. He would have been 26 at the time.
The allegation follows a wave going through Hollywood which has seen the downfall of powerful movie mogul Harvey Weinstein by revelations of years of abuse.
